Financial Support for International Students

Financial Aid Reduction/Amount Eligibility
Tuition Reduction for Privately Funded International Students 30% tuition reduction
  • Those who hold "college student" visa and receive a monthly allowance of less than 90,000 yen.
  • First and Second year students
Kwansei Gakuin University Scholarship
(Tentative Selection Pending University Entrance)		 an amount equivalent to 50% of the tuition
  • Those who are recognized by graduate school, with a visa status such as "college student" or "Long-term Residence".
  • Up to 40% of the successful applicants; selection based on entrance exam results.
  • Only first year students
Kwansei Gakuin University Scholarship
(Selection after University Entrance)		 an amount equivalent to 35% of the tuition
  • Those who are recognized by graduate school, with a visa status such as "college student" or "Long-term Residence".
  • Up to 60% of all enrolled international students in master course excluding successful candidates for above scholarship.
  • First and Second year students

Please note the following:
It is possible to use our tuition reduction system along with KGU graduate school scholarship.
It is not possible to use the KGU graduate school scholarship along with an external scholarship of over 50,000 yen per month.
In the case of repeating a year, you are not eligible to receive the tuition waver or the scholarship.
KGU graduate school scholarship is issued every December in one lump sum.

Living expenses

Living expenses will vary depending on where and how you live, but this is a general guide to the cost of living away from home. Living expenses can add up to approximately 120,000 yen per month, 10-20 percent lower than in the Tokyo-area.
