研究計画 Details on research project

Our research efforts are focused on the chemistry of molecular oxides. We are interested in the behavior of these compounds in solution as well as the synthesis of new type of molecular oxides. One area of current interest is the reaction chemistry of polyantimonates. We have recently isolated the first polyantimonate [Sb8O12(OH)20]4- successfully, and we believe this compound will serve as an entry to a new field in chemistry.
Efforts are also underway to elucidate solution dynamics and equilibria of molecular oxides. Representative results have recently been published (Inorg. Chem. 1996, 35, 5114; Inorg. Chem. 1997, 36, 126).

Projects like the ones just described rely on the development of new synthetic and analytical protocols. Therefore considerable effort is focused on adapting advanced analytical techniques such as solution mutinuclear NMR spectroscopy to new inorganic systems.
